I'm in the process of putting a better effort into gathering feelers for interest in another Public LAN.
Stay tuned, and sign up for the forums to help me put information and requests together.

InsomniLAN-3 (sleep optional)
Venue and Date
We're still looking for a place to call home for InsomniLAN-3 and future LAN Parties. The costs of some of these places would require us to pass way too much of a burden down to you guys as our attendees. If need be we can limit our attendance and head back to the church fellowship halls and meeting rooms. Because we don't have a sure venue yet, we can't fix a date to the calendar. We are hoping for a Friday + weekend in March of 2009.
Games
The reason we do this! Weigh your opinion on the forums. We're in the middle of figuring out which tournaments have the most interest before we announce which games we're going to have for the official tournaments. We need you to come up with a First Person Shooter (Team Fortress 2, Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, etc.), a Real Time Strategy (Command and Conquer 3, Red Alert 3, Warcraft 3, etc.), and a Console tournament (Halo 3, Soul Caliber 4, etc.). Get in the forums and help determine the game! If there's enough interest to justify big prizes we'll be persuing better sponsorships as a result.
Sponsors!
I've found a few vendors and manufacturers that I will be persuing as soon as we have a venue and date nailed to the calendar. Depending on how soon we get that figured out depends on when I start filling out the paperwork for the event sponsorships. Considerable amounts of prep goes into events like this by organizing sponsors that we will be able to provide a successful amount of advertisment and support without conflicting with other sponsors. If you are a local business or know of a local business that would like to sponsor an event or competition at the event feel free to contact n00tz by emailing him @daltongamers.net.

InsomniLAN-3?
After talking with [LW]Burden at MML I got a little bit of a handle on logistics for prep and such to host their massive LAN parties and got to thinking about firing up the InsomniLAN ideas again. I'm starting a brainstorming thread to get the pros and cons you guys have with LAN parties, and what you'd like to see as a new feature at LAN parties.
Targets for Planning
I (n00tz) would be willing to take a lot of the footwork on my back for getting everything up and running but will need the setup assistance when it comes time to run the LAN Party, as usual. For planning purposes I'm targetting a maximum of 75 people showing to the event. I can gather the major sponsors necessary to get this thing running and see about pricing at varying venues for tables, floorspace, power, and bandwidth. Right now, I'm taking a look into the Magnolia Room at the NWGTCC and the NWGA Fairgrounds as potential venues, pricing and power being the main concern. Plan on this being a weekend of DSC/UGA/KSU's spring break which will most likely fall on the first or second week of March 2009, giving us plenty of time to get things rolling.
Marketing the Event
I'm not sure how to go about gaining interest in an event like this right now, but that's what the forum topic would be for. Any ideas would be appreciated and taken into consideration. Major sponsors and giveaways are sure to attract the freeloaders, but keeping the price high enough to make the event pay for itself and the groundwork for any subsequent InsomniLANs.

Annual Summer Trip to Lanwar (Sign-ups NOW!)
For those of you that plan on going to Lanwar's 41st event aka MML7, seats are filling up fast so be sure to grab your spot and pay for it asap. This is DGN's 5th year attending the nationally recognised lanparty. Currently, everyone planning to attend have grabbed their seats in Alpha. We'll be leaving on Wednesday morning to get up there and help them set up so we can have an extra night to mess around and I will be making up for leaving the event half a day early to attend a wedding reception. As of publication the following people are registered, paid, and planning to attend:
n00tz
Osiris (as Crais)
Tibnoo (as Utnaphistim)
katpr0n
Current plans are for the event to be hosted at the University of Louisville, a change from what it has been in the past. They have limited the number of seats available to 550 due to the change in venue. However, if the seats are filled they may decide to move the event back to the Convention Center we are all familiar with to break 1000. The pros of being at the University of Louisville mainly revolve around having a fat Internet2 pipe (think of the fastest download you've ever seen at home and multiply it by five). Cons are a smaller event, and adjusting to a different part of the city for food and lodging directions. Either way we'll be fine and it will be fun.
Competitive Tourneys
Competitive Tournaments this year are receiving their prize money based on the following rules.
For The Top Participated Tourney

3rd Place $250 per team
For the 2nd Most Participated Tourney

2nd Place $250 per team
3rd Place $125 per team
Competitive Tournaments include:
Call of Duty 4 (5v5)
Counter Strike Source (5v5)
Team Fortress 2 (5v5)
"For Fun" Tournaments:
As usual, this year will have plenty of "For Fun" (non-pro) Tournaments for participation by anyone that wishes to reserve their spot. Usually prizes for these events are giveaways so don't expect money out of them. The WoW: Fastleveling contest hasn't been confirmed or denied whether it will be ran by Blizzard this year, but you can be sure it will be along the same rules as two years ago (MML5). This year will also feature Case Mod Contest, Duct Tape Wars, Guitar Hero, Rock, Paper, Scissors, Super Smash Brothers Brawl (Ran by Attendee), Texas Holdem, Track Mania, Tug of War, Warcraft 3 TFT, and Wii Bowling.
Independence Day
I'm looking forward to seeing what celebrations they have planned for Independance Day (July 4th) while we are there. If there isn't anything special or of interest you can be assured we will find something special and interesting to do, likely involving beer, food, fireworks, and whatever else we can get away with in Louisville.
